Understanding the Sine Trigonometric Ratio
In mathematics, the sine is a trigonometric function of an angle. The sine of an acute angle in a right-angled triangle is defined as the ratio of the length of the side opposite to the angle to the length of the hypotenuse.
sin(θ) = Opposite / Hypotenuse
This relationship is often memorized using the acronym SOH CAH TOA, where SOH stands for Sine = Opposite / Hypotenuse.
Angle Formats
Our tool supports both Degrees and Radians. Make sure you select the appropriate unit before computing values!
Inverse Sine (Arcsin)
If you know the lengths of the triangle's sides, you can calculate the angle θ using the inverse function: θ = arcsin(O / H).
